We began by serving a meal to the children in school every week day. Then we started serving meals to needy people in the church. When the earthquake in Haiti happened, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 we realized that we had been drafted into a relief organization. In 2010 we served over 245,000 hot meals from two kitchens. People were living in tents and assistance was the only way that people were getting anything.
People are not living in tents. The lot where the tent city was is now our church. But there are still poor people in church. Old people, ladies with children. Often a meal is the difference between the joy of the Lord and having to prostitute. Each week we serve 150 hot meals a day, Monday through Friday. The elders of the church decide who is on the distribution.
